I woke up this morning with that phrase on my mind: "Just do it."
No, it wasn't Nike asking me to endorse their products. It was about YOU. And your book. And me and my books. And how in order to write a book you have to "just do it."
Honestly, there's no way around it.
So I'm starting a new series of guest posts on this blog by authors who've written books--either their first book like tomorrow's guest or authors who've written many books. I want them to answer these questions:
How did you just do it?
How did you deal with distractions?
With the fear?
With the overwhelmingness of it all?
You've already read how I wrote a book in 20 days.
Tomorrow you'll meet Kate Battistelli who recently completed her book--and just sold it to Charisma House, a national publisher that's had numerous books on the New York Times best-seller list.
Kate is one of my coaching clients. Her book is called Growing Great Kids. She tells how she and husband, Mike, raised their daughter, Francesca, and nurtured the gifts they saw in her. In Francesca's case, it was music and singing.
Fast forward to this year when Francesca was voted Artist of the Year by the multi-billion dollar Christian music industry. She's the first female to win that award since Amy Grant back in the last millennium. Her music has been on ABC’s Extreme Makeover, The Biggest Loser, So You Think You Can Dance, Jon & Kate Plus 8, MTV’s The Hills, and all over the Billboard charts.
All Francesca's awards, of course, had nothing to do with Kate plowing through and finishing her book. Kate had to do what you and I have to do when it comes to book writing: Just do it.
So stay tuned for tomorrow when Kate tells her story of how she wrote her book. I want you to be inspired and motivated as she answers the question, "How did you just do it?"
