Q: How can we reach hundreds of millions of at-risk children at a time? Kids who may be illiterate, poor, or don’t go to school…kids who have no other way to hear an anti-trafficking message?
I'm so excited to announce that the Born2Fly Project to stop child trafficking has just launched the world's first global radio program for children designed to reach kids before the traffickers do.
Born to Fly is a 10-episode dramatized radio series about a caterpillar named Blossom who has a dream to fly. In her quest to follow her dream, she learns 5 important truths -- the hard way, of course, or we wouldn't have a story. Blossom's adventure is an allegory designed to warn children and adults about the lures that traffickers use.
As with everything we do, our goal is not just to keep kids from being trafficked but to encourage them to dream big and tell them they were "born to fly."
We developed this innovative program at the request of radio broadcasters themselves, and we look forward to working with them to broadcast it around the world to protect millions of children from trafficking. Broadcasters around the world are encouraged to contact Born2Fly for information on licensing and fees for translation, production, and broadcast: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Strategic way to reach kids
Each year more than 1,000,000 children are trafficked for sex. Our goal at B2F is to reach kids before the traffickers do -- and radio is a strategic way to do this. We can reach millions of children, parents, teachers, and even traffickers themselves with a strong anti-trafficking message.
There are 10 15-minute episodes in the new radio program, in 2 versions (secular and Christian). The program even includes delightful original instrumental theme music.
Born to Fly is already on the air in India in Hindi, where it reaches millions of children and adults a week.
We look forward to working with broadcasters in many other countries to help them reach their kids before the traffickers do, too.
