Law enforcement agents asked a woman how a pimp lured her into trafficking:
"He sold me dreams," she said. Prostitution was "something that I've never done and I never thought I would do."
Dreams? What he really sold her was a nightmare. Here's what happened to one of her colleagues:
After beating his pregnant girlfriend so badly that blood covered the windshield of his car, he forced her to clean up and get back to work at meeting johns, she told investigators.
And what happened when another tried to run?
He sent a picture of himself holding a gun to her mother's head and said she had four hours to return or he would shoot. When she arrived back in Orlando, she said, his beating put her in the hospital.
Dreams or nightmares?
The next time you think women willingly enter prostitution...or that prostitution should be legalized...please remember these stories. For these women, the dream lasts a split second. After that it's nearly impossible to wake up from the nightmare.
