Remember 2 years ago when child traffickers retaliated against Born2Fly’s partners in the Philippines who were teaching our anti-trafficking program to at-risk kids?
Traffickers kidnapped a child from that city, cut out all his organs, beheaded him, and returned his mutilated body to the city as a warning. They even attacked the head of our teaching program.
Here’s the amazing report of what has happened in the 2 years since those brutal attacks. Our brave partners refused to give in.
They now have so many opportunities to teach B2F that they can barely keep up with them. They’ve even dedicated a full-time staff member to teach B2F, and we’re helping to support her.
Here’s an anti-trafficking flash mob they organized:
Here's what they emailed me recently:
"Hundreds of children experienced our Born2Fly day camps during the summer break from school. We ran 5 camps in areas (with) a huge population of children who would be considered high risk.
"We developed a drama based on Born2Fly that our team performed at the end of every camp, which reinforced the message brilliantly. The drama was incredibly powerful and the kids enjoyed meeting Blossom, Poppy and Max at the end of what was a fun and powerful experience.
"We also hosted the Born2Fly day camp in Manila to some of the poorest of the poor and the children; they would definitely be at risk for trafficking.
"We're presenting the Born2Fly day camp idea to the department of education to integrate into the curriculum in every school in our city, which has one of the highest trafficked areas in the Philippines.
"Now our focus is training leaders and other organizations to take Born2Fly in various models to their community. More about that next month…"
This is just one organization in one country. Multiply that times many groups all over the world that have taken Born2Fly and are, well, flying with it.
A huge thank you to all our donors who enable us to send Born2Fly all over the world without charge. You really are helping us reach kids before the traffickers do.
