Q: What's the only illegal industry that brings in more money than human trafficking?
A: Illegal drugs. You can sell a drug once, but sadly you can sell a human being over and over again. Human trafficking is a $9.5 billion-a-year industry.
Stephanie from Nowhere2Hide left the right answer in the comments section. I've gotten to know Stephanie from Twitter, where she's @Nowhere2Hide. She does a great job working to end modern-day slavery.
Here's today's question:
Q: What's the name of the State Department's annual report that assesses the efforts of 100+ countries to shut down trafficking within their borders?
I'll post the answer tomorrow.

Here's another great prize that we'll give away on 09-09-09 during our 1-day fundraiser for The Born2Fly Project to stop child trafficking: a Plane Quiet Platinum headset, donated by my Twitter buddy, travel writer Shannon Hurst Lane, aka @Cajun_Mama. Shannon was one of the first people I followed on Twitter.
Now, Shannon doesn't want you to keep quiet about child trafficking--but she does want you to have nice quiet plane rides. The Plane Quiet Platinum headset will give you great noise reduction and super audio sound. It's compact, lightweight, and comfortable--perfect for traveling. It retails for $100--and you could win it on September 9.
Everyone who donates to our fundraiser (whether before the date or on 09-09-09) will be entered into a drawing to win the headset and other great prizes. Scroll through my blog to read about some of them and the great people, like Shannon, who've donated them.
Remember, all the money raised goes to The Born2Fly Project to stop child trafficking. Our goal is 9,000 people each giving $9 on 9/9/09. So tell 9 of your friends, okay?
