So a friend emailed me and asked, "Can you explain this Twitterthon? I don't get how it works."
The goal of this particular Twitterthon is 9,000 people each giving $9 on September 9 (09-09-09) for the B2F Project to help stop child trafficking.
There's just one little problem...
I don't know 9,000 people.
Enter the power of Twitter, Facebook, and other social media. I follow about 1,400 people on Twitter, and a bunch more follow me (not necessarily the same people, BTW).
Take any one of those people; they might follow another 100 or even 10,000. So when I tweet about 09-09-09, they can "retweet" (forward) it to their followers. Same with Facebook.
Suddenly we're talking huge numbers of people who learn about the B2F Project--and will hopefully donate $9 on 09-09-09.
If you're not on Twitter or Facebook, you can still donate on 09-09-09 via the Chip-in widget on the Born to Fly website -- and you'll automatically be entered into the drawing for all the prizes we'll give away that day.
All 09-09-09 donors entered in drawing for wonderful prizes
MetaLace jewelry just donated a beautiful handcrafted sterling-and-gold-filled bangle bracelet. This is a gorgeous work of art, and retails for $125+ at art galleries around the country. (I have one in sterling and another in gold-filled, and wear them constantly.) Shout-out to artist Kathryn Stanko (who happens to be my sister) for donating this wonderful prize. Someone will win it on 09-09-09--maybe you!
