A Very Good Year

Hmmm, does that headline refer to 2008? Or does it refer to 2009?

Yes. :-)

2008 was good and I'm expecting 2009 to be even better. 

If you donated to Born 2 Fly International, told someone about us, prayed for us, or even thought nicely about us--then you can join me in celebrating a very good year. Here's what you and I together accomplished in 2008 to help stop child trafficking:

• Finished the manuscript for the children's book, Born to Fly, that we'll distribute to kids all over the world to help prevent child trafficking.

• Started working with artist Leah Wiedemer on the illustrations for the book.  

• Completed 25% of the illustrations--this one is all Leah :-) .

• Started writing the B2F curriculum that goes along with the book; we'll give this to teachers free of charge.

• Changed the name of our non-profit from PawPaw's Pals to Born to Fly International. (Don't even ask about the paperwork that entailed.)

• Launched a new website: www.born2fly.org (Thanks, Lee Ryan, Cathleen Kwas, and Valerie Kosky.)

• Premiered a 2-minute anti-trafficking video: "Get Angry. Please." (Thanks, Jonathan Randolph.)

• Launched the $10x10K campaign (10,000 people each giving $10 to stop child trafficking).

• Worked toward opening our 1st B2F office in Asia.

• Coordinated with schools and non-profits around the world to organize distribution of B2F materials. 

• Joined the Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking to help stop trafficking on a local as well as international level.

• Wrote many articles and blog posts about child trafficking, was interviewed by numerous reporters for stories, and spoke frequently about the efforts to stop this pandemic.

I'd say you and I had a pretty good year! I'm looking forward to 2009 and everything we'll accomplish together. On behalf of the millions of children we're going to reach--thank you.
